argh...rule number one to argumentation you must fully realize your opponents point of view and the argument he/she is trying to articulate before forming a rebuttal. else, risk feeling stupid when you end up getting tangled in various tangents only to finally come to the conclusion that you views never really differed by to much to begin with.
